"The idea of getting
a wide selection of enthusiastic and adventurous
people out to have a taste of Madagascar, its
wonders and its problems, is a great one!"
Susan, January 2004
First and
foremost, the type of Intern that we are looking for
must try to help us promote our mission in Madagascar,
which is to alleviate poverty, improve well-being, and
preserve the unique and beautiful environments of southeast
Madagascar. It is also very important for our interns
to be well-rounded and culturally sensitive people.
Enthusiasm is an essential element to the success of
the program and something that we feel is required from
every participant. We are also only able to accept people
who will be able to live in the conditions of Madagascar,
i.e. physical activity, weather, food. You will be asked
various questions relating to these factors on your
application form.
Although there are no prerequisites for certain courses
of study, we feel that this program will be of particular
benefit to people studying biology, environmental studies,
anthropology, international relations, development,
conservation, African Studies, and any other degree
relating to these subjects.
