"For a small organization, the work being done is extraordinary, professional and inspirational. It’s been a genuine pleasure to be associated with Azafady, and will always be in a special place in my heart."

  Costs
..................................................................................................
To have the opportunity to participate on Pioneer Madagascar, we ask volunteers to raise a minimum donation of £2,000. This is made up of a £500 initial deposit, which secures your place on the scheme, and a balance of at least £1,500 which is due three weeks before departure (at the latest).

We are here to help and support you in raising this donation. We have a wealth of fundraising expertise and resources available to potential Pioneers, including Pioneer fundraising manuals, raffle tickets, posters and official collection boxes.

You are of course welcome to simply pay the minimum donation from your own funds, although we do hope that, through fundraising activities, Pioneers will assist us to raise public awareness about the threats to the people and environment of Madagascar.

What does your minimum donation cover?
  • All in-country travel costs (not flights)
  • All in-country project costs
  • Full training in all aspects of project work
  • All meals for 10 weeks and plenty of safe drinking water
  • Use of campsite facilities
  • A full-time London-based dedicated staff member to answer all your pre-project questions, including fundraising advice
  • A dedicated team to guide you in Madagascar
  • Orientation and language classes upon arrival in Madagascar

What does your donation not cover?

  • Flight costs from London to Fort Dauphin (usually £700 - £850)
  • Entry visa and travel insurance
  • Medical preparations and vaccinations
  • Personal medicines and other medical costs during your stay
  • Personal equipment
  • Any private travel during your stay in Madagascar
  • Additional personal refreshments and entertainment

  Pre-project Costs
As well as covering the cost of your flight, you'll probably need something like £250 in pocket money for the 10 weeks (more if you plan to travel independently before or after the Pioneer scheme).
