Azafady produces an annual newsletter full of updates about our project work and articles about Madagascar. Below is the copy of the most recent newsletter and some backdated issues that can be downloaded. Hard copies or recent press clippings can be requested from the London office.

MADAGASCAR FACTS
Seventy- one percent of the Malagasy population is below the poverty line. This means that Madagascar is poorer than Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Sierra Leone in these terms. (1999 estimate UNDP)

A global poverty line of $1 per person per day was suggested in 1990 (World Bank 1990). This means that the average wage is not enough to support people or their families.
