Health Education Project
..................................................................................................
Tessa Keene, a fully trained nurse worked with Azafady from April-September 2003. She has developed a health education programme to support the health & sanitation initiatives, working in local villages to improve understanding of basic health issues.

Targeting women as the key to children's health, Tessa held discussion groups with local women to identify their areas of concern. She has since compiled relevant health care information and advice into suitable formats from which rural women and children can learn. Topics covered include:

  • Malaria
  • Food nutrition
  • Child care and pregnancy

Azafady is very pleased to have been awarded grants of £25,000 from the Isle of Man Overseas Aid Commission and £18,474 from TRAID towards Project Salama. This project integrates health education work, the activities of our mobile doctor and the builing of health and sanitation infrastructure.
