Specialist Volunteering in Madagascar & the UK

Specialist placements are for people who are willing to take on more responsibility and potentially make a longer term commitment to Azafady either in Madagascar or the UK.

In Madagascar

In order to undertake a specialist placement it is of course a prerequisite that you have the necessary skills. It would also be preferable to have had some previous experience of Madagascar, or another developing country. For the most part specialists are volunteers who are expected to cover all personal costs associated with their work, unless funding has already been allocated for the specific role.

In the UK

Azafady has just a few paid staff in our small London office. We are always happy to find willing and able helpers for a multitude of tasks from fundraising to administration and marketing. We are particularly keen to welcome volunteers who can make a commitment of at least one day a week

Current Specialist Opportunities in Madagascar

Azafady's on-going projects in Madagascar sometimes require specialist help, for example technical assistance or support with monitoring and evaluation. Recently we have taken on specialists for our HIV/STI prevention programme and sustainable livelihoods initiative. Occasionally we also look for specialists who are interested in doing their own research in Madagascar, particularly in terms of pieces of work that feed into Azafady's future project development. We are also recruiting TEFL-qualified volunteer English teachers who can commit to coming out to Madagascar for at least 6 months.

Project Development Internship – UK / Madagascar

Azafady's project development internship provides a unique opportunity for graduates pursuing a career in international development or conservation to contribute to Azafady's work while gaining experience and skills across the range of duties associated with the full cycle of project development. This voluntary internship consists of 3-6 months in our London office followed by 6-9 months in Madagascar.
